tibetan buddhists create ornate sculptures from tinted butter. the butter sculptures are offerings, important to spiritual development and range from goddesses, mandalas and flowers to animals or buddhist symbols. they can be as large as thirty feet high! two things that set it apart from western butter sculpting? the butter is tinted beforehand and molded, not carved. see how it’s done here.
