diane komater: the wireist

as a child, diane komater spent many hours in church studying the black leaded outlines of the images on the stained glass windows that surrounded her. the expressive, brightly colored human forms, dramatically highlighted by their thick, black outlines, were early inspiration for the wire sculptures that she creates today.

komater prefers to recreate and mimic the human body. and it shows. the wire somehow comes alive under her guidance. the wireist. she does it well.
