i like their style. and i don’t only mean their jewelry style. what an interesting life jima and carlie abbott live. open to the possibilities. embracing opportunities. living to make art. oh, and their mixed metal jewelry is outstanding too. looks to me like their lives continue to evolve as their art evolves. kudos.
“For almost 30 years we have been making jewel objects at side by side work spaces. In that time we have done our work in an interesting array of environments, varying from the
ground under red wood trees to park benches in National Forest camp grounds, to a small mobile home using kerosene lamps for lighting, a converted chicken house, various garages, the top floor of an 1880 Victorian house in the Sierra foothills and now to a beautiful little studio near the pygmy forest, a mile and a half from the ocean near Mendocino, north of San Francisco.”
jima’s mixed metal beads are richly textured and colored complex forms. carlie’s pendants also burst with color and movement, some with multiple hinges. together? sheer magic.

wow…that is some neat looking jewelry they are making. i love the combos of metals and stones.
Boy..I think I would love their little studio near the pygmy forest.
I’ve admired Jima & Carlie’s work for years…their use of cold connections in their mixed metal beads has always intrigued me. No matter what the design – their work is spectacular and never fails to impress!
yes kathi, their eye for combinations is part of what makes their work special.
julie you should have told us about them – sheesh, you knew about them all these years and you kept it to your self?? just kidding!! i fell in love the moment i saw their work and i was delighted to have the opportunity to share them with pcnotes readers.
I was at the show in Sacramento last October. I would like to purchase a 1/2″ Hexagon Lotus bead from you that I saw there. Does a necklace chain come with it? Thank you. Lynne Finney
I treasure the earrings and rings bought from Carlie and Jima Abbott at the Peddlers’ Fair in Benicia. Year after year, something new from these wonderful artists was the annual treat. Every time I wear one of their creations, people stop me and ask where I got them – and I am always happy to say!
