i might be the last person to know about this tip for reducing canes, but i wanted to share cat therien’s technique anyway just in case there are a few others who aren’t ‘in the know’.  those are washers on the end of the cane. it looks like a super efficient way to reduce waste.  cat’s canes are always so lovely – i’m guessing she knows what she’s talking about! read about it here.

    I used glass squares,because you can see the suction and tell when (or if) the center is pulling away and starting to distort…

    Lucite squares and rounds were all the rage for awhile as were jar lids. Then I discovered other uses for the distorted ends and quit trying to save them.

    Nope, you aren’t the last to know. I’ve been working with polymer clay for years and this is the first I heard of it. Great tip though! Can’t wait to hunt through my husband’s junk drawer to find me some of these!

    I use mini CDs. Same principle though.
