the recipes

i’ve never met lindly haunani. i’ve heard a lot about her, admired her work from afar…online, in books, in magazines and in elise winters’ vast collection of polymer art…all good. so the other day when cynthia tinapple let us know that lindly joined the blogging world, i happily saved lindly talking color to my favorites.
but i didn’t see the recipes. i missed them. the recipes. lisa clarke saw them and wrote about them here. intrigued, i went back for a second look, and there they were, on the menu at the top of the page. the recipes. fitting place for recipes – on the menu – right?
lindly generously shared her color recipe for mixing a green that is the color of kaffir lime leaves. that would be enough, really…but she didn’t stop there. she shared a recipe for lime soup. that would be enough too, really…but she didn’t stop there either.
lindly went on to describe philadelphia’s redding market – that’s where she found kaffir lime leaves – the inspiration for her latest color recipe. the description is heady stuff…the energy, the pulse…almost made me swoon. her earthy sense of humor, lust for life and love of food come roaring through her sentences:
“Philly cheese steaks next to Thai noodles across the isle from handcrafted Amish cheeses, lit by the neon lights of the beer garden, reflected in the cases of German sausages. So…on my way to my pita sandwich, yards of turkey necks, unsmoked bacon, dungeness crabs, hand crafted goat cheeses, fresh baked pretzels and hand tossed pizzas flashed NCMR or no current means of refrigeration.”
this blog is about so much more than polymer clay and it is certain to be a hit. i’ll be back for more of lindly’s recipes – because indeed they are recipes for living. i’ll bet she’s cooking up a story or two right now…
welcome to the blogosphere lindly!
