i met wiwat kamolpornwijit at the lyndhurst crafts fair on sunday. originally from thailand, the polymer clay artist is now based in virginia and he has a keen eye for design and composition. his work reminds me of tiny shadow boxes – each with a story to tell.
depth and movement. repeating forms. pockets that hide shapes and colors.
wiwat doesn’t have much of a web presence yet, only a few pictures – but i’m hoping he will post pictures of his gill-like geometric constructions soon. they are truly impressive. his work is evolving rapidly and i think he’s one to watch.

wow….just flat out wow.
*gasp*…I couldn’t agree with you more…these are brilliant! I do hope to see more of his work.
Really intriguing and unique work. Great find Susan!
I think I saw his display at Long’s Park, Pennsylvania over Labor Day. Truly amazing, very unique and eye catching.
I saw Wiwat’s work up close at the American Craft Council show this year in Atlanta. It was love at first sight!
I first saw Wiwat at the Art show in town a few years ago. It is difficult to describe his intricated works, you have to see the real things. WOW. I was totally inspired by his work and Wiwat, himself who is very nice, very kind and generous. Do you know he is an Engineer and do this for part time? I hope to see him again soon.
Yes! Each tile a little artwork unto itself, and spectacular as a whole. Looking forward to watching his future works evolve.
Hum… and we both are from Thailand.
C’est magnifique
Superb! No more words to describe it!
Still on opposites – simplicity of pallette and complexity of construction.
What a week!!!
The show this weekend was fabulous for us – polyheads. Louise Cozzi, Judy Dunn, Karin Noyes, Wiwat and me. I must have heard 20 times “Oh this is polymer clay, too?” The public was amazed at the medium’s versatility. I think the dynmaic differences shown by each artist, raised our profile and helped our acceptability as an art form. It was very validating and reaffirming. And Wiwat – a great new voice. Working architecturally – an obviously masculine perspective – a total wow.
I was there and I didn’t see him!! Next time I have to get some help in my booth so I can wander a bit. Thanks for sharing the pics Susan….and it was great to see you at the show, too!
I saw him at St. James in Louisville last year.
That second image was the necklace that moved me to tears and sent my happy but out that very day to buy clay and pick it up again.
I didn’t realize how much I missed it until that very moment.
Beautiful, amazing work.
