Chris Sickels is the imaginative soul behind Red Nose Studios, numerous print ad campaigns and a series of experimental videos that are taking the illustration world by storm. Long known as a 2d illustrator, Sickels found that his work came alive when he began to craft endearing characters and intricate sets to use in the illustrations.
He sculpts the heads from Sculpey, uses found objects to build the bodies and paints expressions on the puppet faces to match the mood of the campaign concept. With prestigious clients that include The New York Times, Village Voice, LA Times and Business Week, this award winning artist is all over the internet. Many of his characters wear a melancholy look, like they might be missing something or someone – which only enhances the human, real-world quality of the puppets.
What a talent. I predict he’ll be around for a long time.

What an amazing artist! I’m so glad you found him for us. I love Forkboy and the orange man and the dog and the man on the park bench, etc, etc! Thanks Susan!
Kim – Forkboy is my favorite, but I soooooo liked the political statement he is making in that first picture I posted (I believe it was a cover for The Progressive magazine) that I had to put it up.
WONDERFUL. This comes at exactly the right time, I was wondering how to proceed with a job.
Blinders! It’s “perfectionism”!!! Love it!
