We haven’t seen much of Seth Savarick lately in part because he’s been busy on the Synergy committee – getting things ready for what promises to be a unique event for the polymer clay community. And although the NPCG conference is seminar-based this year (no clay workshops) Savarick heard the requests for a hands-on class and designed an exciting one for students serious about making gallery quality work.
Savarick, best known for his expertly crafted, silkscreened wearable vessels, has teamed up with Polymer Clay Express to present the pre-Synergy hands on workshop ‘Inner Spaces/Outer Voices: Creating Personal Containters to Wear or Carry. Inro, Lockets, Minaudiers and Vanity Purses. This 3-day Master Class is scheduled for February 17-19, 2008.
From the class description:
In this workshop Seth will demonstrate some 30-plus techniques in answer to these “how-to” questions. From core form and mold creation to fine finishing, learn the top construction techniques to create intriguing forms with perfect seams, pristine edges, flawless surfaces, exquisite interiors and integrated lids. More than just a project class, at the heart of this workshop is learning to fuse design, materials, craftsmanship and personal artistic expression to create gallery quality pieces.
Polymer Clay Express at The Artway is just a short drive from the Synergy Conference. What a wonderful way to gear up for the conference (and extend your trip a little longer!). Wait – you aren’t going to Synergy? Don’t let that stop you! The workshop is open to anyone with a working knowledge of polymer clay. Savarick’s busy schedule hasn’t allowed him to teach workshops across the country this year – making this an excellent opportunity to take a class with an artist who has a masterful command of the medium.
The other reason we haven’t heard from Savarick lately? He’s been busy creating new and exciting art. Seth shared with me that he will be unveiling new work at the conference. Attend the workshop – for all of the reasons listed above – and maybe, just maybe, Seth will give you a sneak peek of his new collection.
