Polyform Products has formally launched Studio by Sculpey.
From the Studio by Sculpey website:
Studio is easy to condition by hand and extremely durable after baking. It is the only oven bake clay that will hold its shape perfectly during modeling and will not break or crack when baking large pieces. It is available in 34 rich, home décor colors and bakes to a luxurious, suede-like finish.
Lindly Haunani wrote about it this morning.
The Colors
There are 31 new tools too…like flexible texture sheets.
Have you tried it yet?
The new website also has a few projects up – with many more on the way.

I want to try it but neither the Jo-Anne’s or Michaels carries it here in town. Guess I will just have to wait until I can find some dang nabit.
Well, if you have followed the threads on PCC you know it costs about $80 for supplies for the first 2 hr. beginner class they have scheduled. Kathi, I will send you some when I get my class sample made.
I tried some today. It was really hard not to buy one each color because they are all so beautiful. I tried 2 blocks. It is like foam sheets in texture and it slices really nice. I made a simple jellyroll cane and it reduced ok. I can see lots of fun applications in a cookie cutter kind of project. It is very smooth and resists fingerprints because of the foam like texture. Definitely going to spend some time experimenting. I see lots of fun possibilities.
Oh great, these colors are beautiful, and the new tools…
I’m just going to look for this new clay and tools on the web to try it soon !
Thanks Susan for this news
I don’t know if anyone has tried to find a ball stylus at any of your local craft stores but let me tell you, you can’t find a single one at mine, UNTILL Studio by Sculpey came out. The tools are amazing, I just can’t wait to try the wonderful array of colors.
If anyone is looking for studio oven clay I just saw it on sale at AC Moore craft store. Can’t wait to buy some and experiment with it. Sounds interesting.
How does this compare to Sculpy III? I’ve been using Sculpy III for several years and loved it till recently. Seems like since they added the new colors and dropped some others that the clay doesn’t have the same consistancy. I’m having trouble with it cracking when rolled out even though I’ve conditioned it. Anyone else having this trouble? Also, some of the new Sculpy III colors seem “sticky” even after conditioning. Hope this new clay works better.
Iv’e tried the new Studio clay . Never really had good luck with the other clays for what i wanted to do. This new clay is wounderful to work with. It conditions fast and very flexable to work with. I just finshed the Thistile Vine Plaque(Donna Dewberry) in just under a hour. I noticed when lefting off baking pan it didn’t crack or fall apart it held its shape you don’t even need the wooden plaque to hang it on the wall. Its great.

Sounds great, Now that they have changed Femo, I need a new clay. Can someone tell me what temp it bakes at and if it can be mixed with other polymer clays???
