At first glance, Kumi Yamashita’s arrangement of obscure objects on the wall appear to be nothing more than scattered building blocks. Abstract, modern art? Maybe…but let’s look again. When the artist shines light on the arrangement at a strategic angle, the scattered blocks cast a shadow silhouette of eerily human figures.

Scattered? Hardly. The arrangements are more than deliberate. Simple, humble materials + brilliant imagination = breathtaking, provocative art.

The video below shows two heads conversing. Really? No. This master of illusion created 60 rotating profiles that she lit from the side. The resulting shadow play is astounding.
