Andy Rogers captures organic shapes, textures and patterns inspired by the natural world. The twenty-nine year old ceramic artist has amassed a body of work you might assume was created by a more seasoned artist. He translates his vision using a variety of ceramic clays and stains – I was drawn to the work first by the forms and patterns, but his color palette also kept me riveted.
When the ‘Bulb Vases’ below contain a single flower stem it appears as if the flower is growing out of the bulb. Each vase is 4-5″tall.
Beauty for me is the quiet, the growing, the naturally emerging vessels produced by the earth. I in turn push my creativity to develop new objects that could likely be found living and growing in nature.
