patience

today’s flickr find:
I often find comfort in Rainer Maria Rilke’s sage advice and simple words. This week brought news of fear, suffering, uncertainty and loss from more than one person in my world. I send a Rilke passage to all, with love. You are in my thoughts.
Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.

Thanks, Susan, for your thoughtful offerings via your blog. Checking in to your mix of soulful inspiration, spirit, creativity and joy has become one of my rituals for starting my day.
Rilke’s quote also describes the work of the artist – to love and live the questions.
Life is such a series of coincidences and as I wrestle with a potentially life changing question I come across your blog (which I check periodically and should probably check more often) and see that maybe I’m not supposed to find the answer immediately. What a coincidence to come across this at this point of my day.
Thanks for posting all that you do – there’s always something to think about.
