Here are a few links to artists that I wrote about last year on The Empty Vessel - worth revisiting. While I was scrolling through posts to pick a few it was interesting to see how differently I look at each body of work now, compared to how I looked at the same work a year ago when I wrote about each of the artists featured here this morning. Another good reason for us to go back, again and again to study art that moves us.
“I dream that others will catch a glimpse of what I have seen in the earth and the plants and the water when they experience what I make. ” Scott Chatenever
Colin Schleeh’s paper thin wood vessels
“I am an artist who delights in creating forms that celebrate the texture and color dimensions of both traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques.” Colin Schleeh
Jackie Abrams’ paper ‘Woman Forms’
“Some “Women Forms” stand alone, either in strength or in sorrow. Others rejoice in the company of other women – daughters, sisters, mothers, friends. They gather strength from their community. Each one is a visual collection of passions and griefs, joys and pains. Her form contains and is shaped by her layers of experience.” Jackie Abrams
