Movement in art is always interesting and I’m often intrigued by art that depicts movement when there is no actual movement involved. ‘Human Motions’, a series of rapid prototype polyamide sculptures, are a solid example. Expertly crafted by Dutch artist Peter Jansen, he “captures sequences of human movements in space and time, in a single frame.” Lovely stuff…our bodies in motion…lovely stuff.

Curious, I dug a little deeper looking for more of Jansen’s art and was pleasantly surprised to find that he has a website devoted to a different body of work that also makes good use of the rapid prototype technology. Strange Attractors offers smaller geometric, abstract and natural forms that move me as much as his sculpture. Be sure to check the animations to enjoy the full flavor of each piece.
