creative play date and graham’s felt figures

I’m computer-challenged today.  My laptop is in for repairs and I’m downstate visiting my mom with limited access to a computer.  My heart fluttered a bit when I realized I would not get my laptop back right away, but it has been a gift.  Read on…

Yesterday Alison, Joy and I had another play date.  You should plan one soon.  Gather a few of your artsy friends and schedule a day to talk, show-n-tell, demo, teach and bounce ideas.  Do it regularly.  It is a wonderful way to replenish the creative well.

I thought this picture of Andrea Graham’s dynamite felt figures was just right for today’s post – three friends enjoying each other.  I’m claiming the woman in the red bathing suit – I want to be as happy as she is when I’m her age, knobby knees and all!  See more felt figures on Andrea Graham’s website (sculptures too).

Alison sent us home with a new book (I’ll tell you more about it when her interview with the author is up on Craftcast ), I came with goodie bags for the girls, filled with things I will be selling in my soon-to-launch Etsy shop (yes, I have been very busy behind the scenes here at daMuse) and Joy showed us how to make the sweetest dolls.  We ate, talked, had the longest show-n-tell ever and as we were walking out the door we were still digging in our bags with ‘one more thing’ we wanted to show, tell,do.  We agreed that next time it will be a slumber party – more time to play!

Without my computer, I spent the evening reflecting on the day and reading my new book.  It is a book that artists should have, will appreciate and can benefit from (hurry Alison – I want to tell them all about it!).  I was reminded that it is good for me to step away from the computer.  I always come back relaxed and refreshed…a gift for me in this hurried season.

It looks like I will be away from this screen a little longer.  I hope to have the computer back by tomorrow.  Until then I’ll be reading and planning the opening of my new venture. Have a great day!

It was a FABULOUS time indeed! Everyone should add play-dates back into their lives.

Glad you love the book, and yes, the interview with the book’s writer will be up in December, plus an announcement of the masterclass with the author. Oh, it will be good!

I think I’m the woman in the middle. She gets to hold both friends, one on each side. Doesn’t get any better then that.
