I can’t get text-related art out of my head today.  Or Etsy.  So I will surrender to my thoughts and show you how three prolific polymer clay artists used text objects in their art.

Ford/Forlano’s 2003 Figure wall sculpture is the subject of a recent post on Polymer Art Archive.  The innovative artists incorporated antique letterpress wood type in this sculpture which also features two removable polymer clay brooches.  The sculpture lives on a wall in Elise Winters’ home and I have been lucky enough to see it.  Ogle it is a more accurate description. This fabulous piece was inspired by Cubist paintings and collages from the early 20th century and it is very appropriate that it hangs in the home of a polymer clay artist and her writer husband!

Laura Balombini is another polymer clay artist whose text-related art caught my eye. In the doll/sculpture below, Balombini combines an antique paddle, print block letter and her signature style polymer clay head and limbs to bring Mr. C to life.  Oh my…

And look who also has a new Etsy shop!  Ford/Forlano is now selling a collection of the vintage caned jewelry that they created back in the 1980′s under the name CityZenCane.
