Moshe Botser (aka Moshiko) is a self taught jewelry artist who has been working with synthetic polymers and precious metals for more than twenty years.

While finishing up research for a post scheduled to be published this morning about an artist who works with resin and other plastics, I somehow found myself  looking at blown glass instruments. It is one of the things that I love about what I do – one minute I am writing about how quickly plastics have gained attention as a viable fine craft medium and the next I am completely immersed in the history of the centuries old art of glass blowing.

tzu-ju chen pushes boundaries

Tzu-Ju Chen alters vintage photographs and a variety of Asian paper money that originally served as a “ceremonial offering of currency for the dead” to give her series, China – Silhouettes of Memory, the appearance of metal.  Chen, who has a Master of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing from Cranbook Academy of Art, forces us to look at materials from a different perspective as she pushes the boundaries of traditional techniques.
