Yesterday I played hooky for a few hours poking through boxes and bins in junk shops. I returned two or three times to the same old box in a dusty corner of one shop. The box had nine pool balls in various colors. I picked up a few of the balls and tossed them around in my hands, trying to figure out what I could do with them.

I admit it. Today I visited a few salvage, antique and junk shops instead of attacking the cumbersome task I alluded to in this morning’s post. I have my own kind of ‘retail therapy’ that involves spending no more than $25.00 and has nothing to do with clothes, pocketbooks or shoes (see a few of my treasures in the picture below). I scored lots of fun things for my mixed media stash and it went a long way towards a much needed shift in energy and attitude.

Trying to decide which of Kari Russell-Pool’s glass sculptures to feature is a little like trying to choose a piece of chocolate from the dessert tray after a fine dining experience. Near impossible when it is all so good. A flameworker who often collaborates with husband Mark Petrovic, Russell-Pool’s sculptures are feminine, delicate and brimming with mind bending detail.
