christine j. brandt: raw materials

If you think that bold is beautiful, that wood is wearable, and that stones are sexy, then you will want to take a closer look at Christine J. Brandt’s over sized jewelry. Brandt carves exotic wood and combines it with semi precious stones to create sculptural, organic, rings, necklaces and cuffs.
Lava Ring, African Black Ebony and Vanadinite
Born in Japan and raised in Europe, Scandanavia and the United States, Brandt counts her multi-cultural upbringing as part of the inspiration for the jewelry that has quickly become her signature style. The artist uses stones and crystals in their raw, uncut state and she rubs Danish oil into the wood to bring out its true beauty. No stains to color these pieces and you won’t find any faceted cuts on the hunks of stone she sets into the sleek wood bases.
Fan Fair, African Black Ebony and Vanadinite
Ice Drops, African Olivewood and Herkimer Diamonds
Chica Dee Ring, Tagua Nut and Calcite
Honey Dew, Macassar Ebony and Calcite Crystals, encrusted Geothite

Brilliant! The sheer audacity to put wood and uncut diamonds together is simply… brilliant! The warm sensual forms of polished wood against the “au natural” stones is incredibly compelling. Brava Christine!
(Thanks once again, Susan, for the great inspirational post!)
Wowee, wow, wow, wow! Those are stunnng! Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely love these! The contrast between the two materials is exciting yet balanced.
I’ve always loved the idea of uncut stones clustered/clumped together; Christine has pulled this off beautifully and so artistically, in combining the stones with wood….these pieces are pure perfection. I absolutely covet “Ice Drops” and “Chica Dee”!
