Fishing lures are usually small, brightly colored bits meant to do just what their name implies: lure fish to the hook. Maine artist Richard Remsen creates two-foot long, blown glass and steel fishing lure sculptures that are meant to hook a different kind of fish.

Watch Remsen work and talk about his creative process in this video and read an interview with the artist here.

daMuse Is Still Here

I continue to work quietly behind the scenes, now close to completing several projects. Watch for them to unfold one at a time here on DAM. First up? We are going to get The Apprenticeship Project (TAP) back on the road. Yup, it’s time. Look for news about TAP later this week.

I’m popping back in with a quick post today – and a BIG thank you to all who wrote to me privately and left comments on my last post. Your words, which delight and inspire me, are much needed and appreciated during this surge of activity and excitement as I reinvent myself.

Enjoy Sydney Lynch’s jewelry – although the entire collection is interesting and well done, her Cluster Necklaces and Lariats are what initially drew me in – Lynch has an eye for combining lines, shapes, objects and colors.

“Working with the materials is the most exciting part of the process for me. Simply put, I like making things. In my one of a kind pieces, I exercise my love of color, incorporating a wide range of colored stones in the designs.”

Later this week I will be in NYC taking pictures of an executive chef for his website. No posed shots, no staged shots, no styled shots. I will be the fly on the wall while he works and plays, quietly following him around capturing the moments in his day that tell his story. It’s a new service I offer for creative professionals (that means you). More about that soon.
