wow. for sure i am feeling the love today. your response to last night’s post has lifted me up and confirmed what i already thought (note to self – keep following your heart – it hasn’t failed you yet). thank you for coming out from behind your computer screens to let me know what you want to see on the blog. you are all the best!
i will continue with multiple posts per day – with pictures – some with short, quick text to go along with the pictures, others with longer text woven in throughout the week as time allows, and probably some posts that are just lists of interesting links.

hey libby – did you see this post from yesterday? i’ve been trying to make buttons like this with tinted liquid polymer clay – with only moderate success and there you are doing it so beautifully with your bisque beads! did i read it right? you are teaching this? why didn’t i know that six months ago? tell us where…

i try to behave. really i do. but sometimes the temptation to tiptoe into the political swamp is too much. alleycat studio’s process photos of political caricature sculpts are what sent me over to the dark side today.
first: terrific polymer clay sculpts. i love showing you an artist’s work in progress. i find it to be a really helpful tool, but who is the mystery artist? anyone know? i’d like to give her proper credit, but i couldn’t track down this talented sculptor/illustrator.
second: there is so much rich material for a comedy skit in these unfinished sculpts – think about the headline material alone! bush half baked. giuliani can’t see a thing (this is news?). hey, look over there – hillary is not having a bad hair day because she doesn’t have any hair! and what’s this? condaleeza with that gosh darn fake expression wiped off her face? now why didn’t i think of that? and cheney’s got a gun? step away from the gun, yes you, dick. yikes!
oh my, this is fun. i could keep it up, but i don’t want to hog the blog. go ahead try it – doesn’t matter which side of the political fence you are on, there are candidates from all parties to make you chuckle. what? you don’t believe me? go on now, have a look.
what is it that they say? “laughter is the best medicine” and the other one too – you know, “if i don’t laugh, i’ll cry”. we are pretty deep in the muck. i choose laughter.

leigh pennebaker uses jagged industrial fencing and rebar to make a provocative statement about entrapment and feminine beauty. she cuts, ties, knots, weaves and twists the wire, honoring women’s long history of crafting and domestic art as she makes art.
in her artist statement, pennebaker mentions that she channels the spirits of southern belles, divas, vixens and ingenues through her dimensional caricatures. you will see that this is true when you visit her website, where there is plenty to ogle, including life sized couture sculpts, ‘miss thang’ wire faces and forty wire couture sculptures with names like lola, ginger, zsa zsa and norma. bring on the divas!
these figures are full of movement. they sway, shimmy and sashay. they dance. into your line of vision. into your head. into your heart.

it would be very helpful for me to know this as polymer clay notes heads towards its six-month birthday (april 2nd) – i’m tweaking everything and getting ready to think big for the next six month milestone.
i’m delighted with the progress pcnotes has made in such a short time. there are already several hundred people from around the world who read polymer clay notes every day (umm…even more than that but i’m being a bit conservative until i do all the math, so for now, let’s just say several hundred). WOW!
