a gift for you
I’m a low-key, no-frills, hassle-free holiday type of woman. I’m happiest creating so that’s what I’ve been doing this holiday season while everyone else hustles and bustles. But I do have a gift for all of you! A thank you for playing along in my giveaway last week (the comments gave me lots of ideas for my Etsy shop); a ‘happy holidays no matter what you celebrate…I’m celebrating YOU’ kind of gift.
Polymer clay image transfer pushed through a post office box door
Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letter to a Young Poet is one of my favorite books. There are many passages that move me to tears, to a place of comfort, to a state of mind that allows me to take a deep breath no matter what is going on in the world. I took one of my favorite passages and created a collage sheet just for you!
Rilke: Love The Questions {Collage Sheet in PDF* Format}
This little present includes the sheet of quotes/sentences you see above, the same sheet in reverse (for easy image transfers) and one page of the excerpt alone, framed for your viewing pleasure. I hope it brings you many hours of art-making joy!
*The PDF is a large file (so that you can print it with no problem).

The image above is from my collection of vintage ‘Woman’s Work’ advertisements. I’m thinking of selling digital collage sheets** priced at $2 to $4/sheet. I’ve got a fantastic assortment of images, text and original textiles in my growing stash of ephemera - ready and waiting for your next art project.
Don’t worry, I will continue to post freebies here of course!
What do you think? Interested? Anything in particular that you’d like to see?
**Digital means you get a JPEG or PDF (customer chooses) of the image-filled sheet. No shipping charges, instant download after payment is received, just save to your computer and print over and over on the paper that works best for your art.
For Polymer Clay Notes Toolbar Users (see previous post) there will be a special introductory offer posted to the toolbar next week!

transfer pencils
floresita has a tutorial on things i’ve made for using a transfer pencil on fabric. has anyone tried this for image transfers on polymer clay?
while you are on her site, be sure to take a look at floresita’s free, vintage embroidery pattern clip art. might find a few illustrations worthy of a polymer clay image transfer. this one is fun, yes?
pressing issues
CLIP OF THE WEEK:
briar press is a community of letterpress printers, book artists, and printing enthusiasts. in addition to an online museum, classifieds, discussion forum and yellow pages, there is a section called ‘cuts & caps’ - illustrations of ornaments and initials scanned from old specimen books. the images are free for your personal use (not commercial). it’s a great resource. the services are free, but you can make a donation to help keep the site running.
