newfry’s polymer paper

Geraldine Newfry’s ‘Book Plate Necklace’ below is the result of a process she calls ‘polymer paper’ which involves layering liquid sculpey (many layers), ink, her doodles and stamping. She backs the ‘paper’ with silver leaf giving it a lovely luminescent quality.

Nice Geraldine, nice…sounds like good material for a new class. I’ll be the first to sign up!

fimo gel flowers tutorial

chris wrote to say that she has posted the tutorial for her fimo gel flowers. it looks like she adapted donna kato’s layered dichroic tutorial (and she gives donna credit right at the top of the tutorial). the tutorial has lots of clear, labeled pictures, easy to understand instructions and opens up the door for many different ideas. i can’t wait to give it a try. well done. check it out here. thanks chris!

have you been keeping your eye on donna kato’s website? i wasn’t kidding when i told you that she’s been adding new tutorials at record speed. she has a new one up using washi papers and kato clear medium (i still call it kato sauce). this one is in pdf format.
