I don’t know much about Polish jewelry designer Pawel Kaczynski, but I can tell you that his use of steel, silver, bronze mesh and paint has resulted in numerous awards for the artist. Textile meets jewelry in an explosion of color and texture in this body of work.

[private_archives]The closures on Kaczynski’s cuffs and collars are a striking example of how an artist’s work can sing when the functional elements of a piece are incorporated into the design. I want to touch them and memorize the way they feel under my fingers.  Wrinkles have never been so sexy.

Kaczynski’s website is difficult and I broke my own rule of not spending more than two minutes trying to get the mechanics of a website to work. Generally, if a website is built in a way that makes it hard for viewers to actually see (or find) the work I almost always move on to the next artist. I made an exception in this case because the work has a WOW factor that supercedes the difficulties of the website.  The web has other places you can go to see a few of his pieces here and there, but his website seems to have the most complete collection – it is frustrating that we can’t get a good look at all of it. [Edited on 6/19 to add: Based on a reader's comment I visited Kaczynski's website from another computer and it worked fine.  Both are Macs  and up to date with Flash - I don't know why it worked fine on one and with a great deal of difficulty on the other, but it was delightful to be able to see all of this artist's collection!]
